Here, InshaAllah, you will find directions on how to transfer the audio files to audio cassettes.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:

1. A cassette recorder or stereo that has rca audio input jacks (the same as the A/V jacks on the back of your VCR). They may say LINE/AUX/CD/PHONO/IN or something else as long as it is input it will work. If you don't have one you can purchase a new one for under $100 from most electronics stores or a used one from most thrift shops or from eBay.com (search for "cassette deck") for under $50 and even under $25 sometimes.

This is a picture of a cassette decks back views showing the red and white RCA input and output jacks.

2. A computer with a sound card and the appropriate software to play the audio files (Real Player for the .rm/.ra/.ram files or Winamp or Windows Media Player for the .wma files). Almost every computer has a sound card already so you shouldn't have to worry about this.

Your sound card may look different, but make sure you use the line out port of your sound card when recording to cassette.

3. A cable to connect your computer to your stereo.

"RCA to 3.5mm stereo Y adapter cable" to connect your stereo to your computers sound card (available at any Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, etc). Costs $1-$3.

STEPS ON TRANSFERRING TO AUDIO CASSETTE:

4. Making sure your computer and stereo are on, connect them using the Y-adapter cable. Connect the 3.5mm stereo connecter into the Line-out port of your sound card and the two RCA connectors to the stereos Line-In or input jacks.

5. Place a blank cassette into your stereo (most audio files here are 90 minutes in length unless specified otherwise, so you a 90 minute cassette). Play the audio file on the computer and start recording on your stereo. Test a small amount first and see if it recorded properly.

You should be all set up to make copies of the audio files onto cassettes. For even better quality, you can purchase the MP3 quality files on CD from us and record the cassettes at even better quality than the Real Audio files. Any questions, just let us know.

How to transfer an audio cassette  or any other audio source to your computer as an audio file.

To transfer an audio cassette onto your computer as an audio file, you switch the cable from output to input and input to output. In other words, the cable connects from the cassette deck (or any other audio source such as radio, VCR, camcorder, etc) output to the computer sound card's input (or mic if no input exists).

You would then need an audio recording/editing software (Windows' wav recorder is not suitable). You can use Audacity, a free audio editing program that is very basic but gets the job done, and you can save the file as .wav or .mp3.

To download Audacity, click HERE or if that doesn't work click HERE, or if even that doesn't work, go to www.google.com and type in "download audacity." It is pretty straightforward to install and to use.
